It’s an inspired concept. Consolidating one of the great strength’s in UK industry – fashion and design, will result in a significant boost for this industry. It deserves the support of government and all key players in the industry. And its time that the UK has what other major fashion centres have, a key destination for fashion and design in this country.

A fantastic idea for a legacy use. Whilst Westfield will undoubtedly attract a number of the more commercial elements, a use such as this could bring a “coolness” to the overall regeneration that will ensure the area continues to draw people in; it would be the quirkiness of Spitalfields market to the conformity of Broadgate

I think this is a great idea! I am backing the idea to be a great success and I think its time that the UK became a manufacturing base again.

I am so pleased to see that a company has finally taken the initiative to take steps towards the manufacturing of clothes and textiles in our country. The training people will receive to acquire new skills as a result of this not only provides the beginning of a solution towards unemployment issues, but does so in an innovative hands-on approach that has a knock-on effect throughout the rest of the fashion industry. Highly deserving of government support!

I’m a headmistress at a girl’s school, full of ambitious, creative and hugely talented young minds. To see a genuine legacy come from the Olympic site such as this one, with such possibilities for education, can only be a hugely positive movement. Well done Fashion Hub!

What a brilliant idea and why on earth hasn’t this existed in the UK before? The plans sound amazing, what a world of opportunity! I will keep an eye on your site to look out for job opportunities in the coming months as this is exactly the sort of place I’d love to work.

I’m a British ex-pat based in Dubai and think your plans sound fantastic. It’s the sort of thing that might get great backing over here, especially if you were to attend the right trade fairs, exhibitions, etc. Many British organisations have a presence over here to engage the Arabic market, so that may be something you should consider further down the line. I’m all for putting the British fashion industry and related sectors firmly on the international map.

How exciting this project sounds! And so refreshing to see an organisation actually being proactive and doing something practical to bring back the British manufacturing industry to this country. I had no idea there was no ‘hub’ for the fashion industry in the UK; it seems so obvious when it’s one of our leading and most internationally respected industries, that brings in so much revenue, so it’s great to see that plans are finally in place. I will watch the media and your site for further updates on your progress with great interest.

Great concept for a clearly underutilised area of the market, this will be a great success!

  10. Anne says:

In today’s market retailers want short lead times and the flexibility to make last minute decisions based on emerging trends and customer behaviour, combined with adding new designs regularly but with lower manufacturing runs. None of that adds up to buying from the Far East so any initiative to fill the skills gap here in the UK and bridge the gap between design and manufacturing can only be a good thing, and the UK Fashion Hub is to be applauded for leading the way.
